Cherry Weather Station

In the photos  below you can see some of the steps that are taken to make this type of project.

Boring the holes on the drill press.

After the board is squared up on the joiner and made parallel on the table saw, it goes to the drill press where the holes are bored for the gauges.

Profile laid out for the scroll saw.

After the holes are bored the part is sanded with 120 grit sand paper on a belt sander. Then the profile is drawn on the part.

Cuting the profile on the scroll saw.

Sanding the profile with the drill press.

The saw marks from the scroll saw are sanded out with flap sanders on the drill press.

Lots and lots of sanding.

After the profile is sanded, the front and back are sanded to 240 grit with the orbital sander. Then the edge is routed on the router table, and the tool marks are sanded out off the edge.

Wood burning.

After sanding the edges, the front and back are sanded from 240 grit to 400 grit. Then I engrave my name, the type of wood, and the date into the wood with a wood burner. I also brand my work when it is possible.

Back of completed weather station.

After sanding, the weather station is finished with 6 coats of wiping polyurethane.

Front of completed weather station.

After the finish has dried and the gauges are installed.
