Woodworking:
The art of taking large pieces of wood and
cutting them into small pieces of wood so that you can glue them into big
pieces of wood.
"It always seems to take me longer to
do something when I am in a hurry. I usually have to do things twice."
- Ted Rudie
My name is Ted Rudie,
I
started woodworking in 1989. At the time I was making small flat wood
items. Pictures of cabinet items I have made recently can be found by
following the Flat Work Photos button at the left. My list of tools has grown
since 1989, and in 2003 I purchased a lathe. Pictures of my wood turning
items can be found by following the Woodturning Photos button at the left.
I am a member of the Chesapeake Wood Turners and
The American Association of Wood Turners.
I currently work for a consulting firm as a System
Engineer. I have worked since 1999 in this type of position, and I am
a MCSE. I have two Associate of Science degrees in Design and drafting,
and in CNC Programming.
I previously worked in machine shops as a machinist and a CNC Programmer.
Prior to working as a machinist I worked as a warehouse man for Hechinger,
an architectural drafter for a large home builder, as an Electrician's helper,
and as a lifeguard.
I am actively involved in Maryland Masters Swimming. I
have participated in the YMCA Masters National Swim meets since 1997. I
started swimming on a summer team at age 10. I continued summer
swimming
until I was 14 when I started swimming year round. I swam for 1 year in College and did not return to
swimming until 1997.
